Looking Past the Winter Storm to a Warmer Day
By Jeneice Hall

“What else can I put on?” was a question I asked myself countless times last month. I never thought living in Texas would be 9 degrees, let alone 40 degrees inside a house. Like more than 4 million Texans, I was without power and water for days. My frustration filled every inch of the cold crisp air. The darkness seemed never to end. I tell you not to make you sad but to share that HMA is more than an organization we join; it’s a place to meet caring people and build relationships.
The HMA members I met through our networking opportunities provided warmth from a distance. They texted me to check on me, gave prayers, and offered a helping hand in the darkness. During a winter storm, it is hard to see warmer days. My faith and my HMA friends kept me warm on those cold nights (and my 30 blankets). I hope you will take advantage of the opportunities we have at HMA to connect. Reach out to your constitutes directors (Cari Moodie, Vanessa Burks County, and Gail Willingham-Thornton) to help connect or join the events and training offered and send that direct message to keep in touch with someone you found interesting. While our HMA mission is to encourage, support, and empower leaders in integrating faith and health in their local communities, HMA provides relationships that help you look past the storm as well. Peace to you all – Jeneice
